Metal Solar Light-Oil and Other Gardening Lights
As you probably know, I’m in the market to find the best garden lights. The first place I wanted to look was Home Depot so I’ll be reviewing both some post and ground lights as I’m not sure which direction I want to go. I may add both since I have a nice walkway and a deck that I’d like to make brighter and safer.
The first set I looked at is described as the “6-Pack 3 Tier Metal Solar Light-Oil Rubbed Bronze” made by Hampton Bay. The story here looks like they start strong but fade after a few months. The brightness level is soft and modest but if you’re trying to set a low key mood, they’ll work well for knowing where you are walking. The posts are made of plastic so durability is a concern and after awhile the lights simply fade out and battery replacements don’t work. The cost is $44.97.
Next, I looked at the Beckett 3 Light – 10 Watt Garden Accent Light Kit. These were well received as they can really light up your flower bed or shrubbery. The light censor for the automatic on and off works well so you don’t have to worry about conserving energy. These ground lights look pretty durable and are easy to install. The Beckett landscaping lights kit includes (3) 10 watt lights on a 20 foot cord so it spaces out well in a small garden. One kit runs $69.98.
The HomeBrite Solar Solar Stepping Stone in Sqaure Design was something different that I thought was intriguing. The idea here is this solar powered light acts as a decorative stepping stone by day and by gives off pathway garden light by night so you don’t step on your precious strawberry patch. If you’re like me and like bright lights, the Home Bright Stepping Stone won’t disappoint. It has 4 amber LEDs or light-emitting diodes in each stone so the ground is well illuminated. It has an automatic dusk ’til dawn on and off as well as a rechargeable battery feature.
Another reason the stepping stone garden lights are so well received is because they’re heavy-duty (though it should be noted they withstand up to 250 lbs) and don’t get easily jostled around by the wind or a rambunctious dog. Also, you need not worry if you live in an area with low exposure to sunlight. The Home Brights charge relatively quickly and so they don’t need much exposure to shine at night.
